73rd Independence Day Celebrated at Embassy of India, Brussels

The 73rd Independence Day of India was celebrated on a grand scale at the Embassy of India, Brussels on 15 August 2019. Ambassador of India, Smt. Gaitri I. Kumar, unfurled the National Flag and addressed the Indian diaspora assembled on the occasion. In her address , Ambassador of India recounted the nation's journey over the last 73 years, the ongoing celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji and reiterated that all Indians in Belgium should consider the Indian Embassy their "home away from home". Ambassador also and read out excerpts from the President's Address to the nation on the eve of Independence Day. A rendition of patriotic songs by women & child artists from the Indian diaspora in Belgium, a screening of the documentary "Mahatma Gandhi - A great soul of the 20th Century" and an exhibition of drawings by renowned cartoonist, Shri. R.K Laxman were organised on the occasion. Around 900 members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India participated in the celebrations.
